pre-relationship bullshit haikyuu teams probably had to put up with before various ships managed to get their shit together
daisuga probably was really annoying with like small/petty jealousy, like a girl would hit on one of them and the other would be standing behind their back making faces about it and mocking it and everyone else on the team just has to put up with it. and then theyre all overly sweet to each other to make up for the petty jealousy or some odd version of "winning them back" after the flirting event and the team is rolling their eyes *so hard*
i think asanoya is so annoying bc nobody can convince Asahi that Noya likes him. Like full stop. Eventually someone pulls him aside and is point blank like "Noya said he has a crush on you ask him out" and Asahi is just like: "Haha he was probably joking" and just leaves the scene. Like the absolute refusal to believe it from Asahi combined with Noya's classic teen boy inability to be sincere means that even after theyve both been told they somehow still havent gotten together??? how long is this going to take???
tsukkiyama probably ruins everyone's week the week before they get together bc one of them *saw* a confession letter stuck into the other's bag and absolutely went (emotionally) off the rails for the days leading up to them discovering it was for them.
I am fully of the camp that iwaoi start dating before they label it/make it official so the whole team is screaming like "PLEASE HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT IT" meanwhile Oikawa is saying "we just went on a few dates and kissed a few times it doesnt mean anything" and Iwa is in the background shouting "yeah I dont wanna be anyone's boyfriend that's lame" and then they wander off to go eat dinner together holding hands and the team is left in frustration because ALL they talk about is how theyre *not* in a relationship.
for bokuaka its mostly just Bokuto pestering every goddamn person he knows for like 4 months asking "do you think Akaashi likes me?" or "do you think he'd say yes if I asked him out?" and then one day making Konoha *snap* when he says "I need to tell you a secret" and the secret is that he has a crush on Akaashi as if nobody had known that
with ushiten I imagine Tendou was probably really obvious with his crush/interest but in like a very casual "not taking myself too seriously" kind of way so he's comfortable openly flirting, and Ushijima, against everyone's expectations, doesnt seem to mind the attention but is still who he is, so the whole team just has to put up with the most INSANE interactions. Like Tendou walks into the locker room and cat calls him and Ushijima just replies with a formal "thank you" and Semi is contemplating slamming his head in a locker. There's like 12 months of this.
okay okay but I think arankita is *very classic* in that Aran compensates for his crush by over-supporting Kita. so like the whole team gets super annoyed bc Aran wont risk disagreeing with him, is always offering to do extra work, is generally just sucking-up really badly and the twins suffer the most for this bc Aran used to just ignore their antics but now he's super annoyingly on them all the time to try and impress Kita
kuroken is a little different. Yaku asks Kuroo every single day if he's asked Kenma out yet. Lev asks Kenma if he has a crush on Kuroo every chance he gets. Fukunaga gives them a wink when they leave practice to walk home together. This is the only pairing in which the team is the irritant pre-relationship and then post-relationship everyone loses interest and moves on.
I'd include kagehina but once again the entire goddamn show is everyone putting up with them flirting so whats the point.

haikyuu!! boys crushing on you ₊˚⊹♡
Tumblr media
here are some silly headcanons on how i think the shiratorizawa guys would act while they have a crush on you + eventually confess :3
characters: ushijima, tendou, semi, shirabu, goshiki
˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆。☆
ushijima
its weird because he knows he likes you and everyone else THINKS he MIGHT like you but hes so blunt and deadpan that its hard to tell
he doesnt treat you differently than he treats any other person but hes very kind and generous
gives you random compliments though, like is hes thinking something he just says it to you
'you look very beautiful today' or 'are you wearing a new perfume? it smells nice'
but at the same time he accidentally insults you like hell ask you when the last time you showered was
because of this nobody can really tell exactly how he feels about you until he eventually confesses
he would probably be very deadpan and unromantic about his confession too, he would just straight up ask you to go out with him (˶˃⤙˂˶)
but TRUST once he gets you out hes bringing you flowers, hes buying you your favorite snacks, hes holding doors for you pulling your chairs out for you
u rlly gotta trust the process LMAO i feel like hes just a lil dummy
tendou
i feel like he wouldnt confess because hes rlly insecure and doesnt think anyone would ever have romantic feelings for him so you would probably have to confess
he does little things to let you know he cares about you, like hed suggest manga he thinks youd like or some songs or has movie nights with you and brings snacks
jokes around a lot with you and actually shows a vulnerable side when hes alone with you
i can see him inviting you out just randomly and casually, like bringing you to a bakery he likes or going to the park with you late at night to swing on the swing sets and chat
also compliments you very boldly but immediately gets super blushy and flustered and starts stuttering ( ˶°ㅁ°) !!
probably teases you a lot though but gets really nervy if hes too flirty about it
i feel like youd DEF have to confess but he'd probably be throwing you hints all night, complimenting you, buying you little keychains or snacks, holding your bags for you all that jazz
once you guys are officially together OH MY GOSH is he a different person, constantly flirting and teasing and now youre the one blushing and left stuttering by his words ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;)
semi
hes actually very sweet and chill about it
like when he first meets you hed probably just straight up say youre really pretty and ask for your phone number
hed be shocked to learn that you actually have a lot in common with him
overall is just very flirty and romantic while crushing on you, like he makes it NO secret that he has feelings for you (˶ ˘ ³˘)ˆᵕ ˆ˶)
jokes about you being his girlfriend but surprisingly take a while to actually ask you out
despite that he still is very protective over you and literally treats you like youre his girlfriend
def writes songs for you and sends voice memos of him playing them on his guitar ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧
i feel like he wouldnt really try to hard to impress you or anything, hed just feel comfortable being himself around you and doesnt want you to end up falling for someone who isnt him (as in him not acting like himself)
invites you out on dates often before officially asking you out
he ends up asking you out with a cute stuffed animal and candy at your doorstep
shirabu
lurks from the shadows
i feel like he would probably push you away and be kind of cold twoards you because he thinks your really pretty but doesnt want to have feelings for you
i feel like hed just watch you and like admire you from a distance
would probably be too scared to have a genuine conversation with you so he sends you annonymous notes
hes your little secret admirer ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
his notes are so sweet though, like he writes you poems and tells you how nice you looked
i feel like hed be ok just being your secret admirer forever but he realizes he wont be your classmate forever so he ends up writing a note to meet him on the roof of the school during lunch
you end up meeting up with him and he asks you on an official date ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
goshiki
CONSTANTLLY trying to impress you (╥﹏╥)
just a big dork honestly
always invites you to his practices so he can show off his skills to you
if you compliment him hed probably be all blushy and smiley and hit you with the 'yeah it was nothin'
invites you out to play gacha machines and spends a bunch of money on you trying to win the figures you want
also brings you snacks and gives them to you during lunch (˶˃⤙˂˶)
honestly would do anything for your validation
tries to be cool and tough but you see right through that act almost immediately
probably invites you out to a movie and awkwardly tries to hold your hand but only ends up brushing hands with you
would try to ask you out after the movie ends but hed just be stuttering then ends up saying nevermind
you probably have to ask him out lol
even after all that hes STILL trying to act like a tough guy

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐝
featuring; jjk, aot, demon slayer, haikyuu, cod, my hero academia
cw; biting, dacryphilia, orgasm denial (edging?), marking, overstimulation, cum play, use of baby and babe (to reader)
a/n; I thought I could try something new, tell me if I should never do it again, sorry for any spelling/ grammar mistakes
Tumblr media
✰ “Open your legs for me, baby. I wanna see you."
they say as they pull one leg over their shoulder and hold the other to the side pushing it, testing your flexibility as they fuck into you with precision. it was a futile attempt trying to close your legs to lessen the power of their thrusts. their grip firm and hard and you know for sure that there will be bruise marks from the sheer strength .
✰ “stop hiding from me baby, you know I love to see you stretched out around me”
kisses trailed up the leg resting on your shoulder small bite marks littered from your thighs up. their hand squeezing the meat of your thigh as they throw their head back in pleasure. almost as if they’re enjoying it more than you are even though you’re the one getting fucked senseless.
✰ “try close them again and you won’t like the consequences baby”
GOJO, toji, eren, jean, present mic, BAKUGO, miruko, dabi, iwaizumi, UKAI, ghost
✰ “You want to cum? Have you earned it?"
they question even as tears spill endlessly over your tear stained cheek. the two of you always end up like this though its usually the result of you teasing them endlessly beforehand. you don’t know how long has passed since they’ve had you on edge like this denying you from release over and over again.
✰ “you look so pretty begging to cum, but surely you dont think you can get away with your behaviour from earlier?”
they say it in a mocking tone enjoy the helpless sob you let out as the continue their assault on your hole. they know they being mean but they cant help it. after all you look so beautiful with you face all wet with tears and spit from how dumb they’re fucking you.
✰ “since you’ve been such a good pet for me I think I’ll let you cum now but I’m not stopping either way”
SUKUNA, hange, TSUKISHIMA, terushima, aizawa, UZUI, john price
✰ “mark me so everyone knows who I belong to”
they love the feel of the way your nails scraping against their skin whether it’s their scalp, arms, legs, anywhere but especially their back. it’s a clear indicator that they’re making you feel good and maybe they have just a small pain kink. your fingers dig really deep especially when your about to cum and it’s the best feeling to them. even if your silent your nails give you away.
✰ “c’mon love I know you can do better than that, let me feel how good i’m making you feel”
they love to flaunt the scrape marks to friends and colleagues. changing in the gym, their shirt comes off first and is the last thing to be put back on just so everyone knows how good they’re fucking you. nobody dares to approach them after seeing the prominent marks trailed along their back, if there’s a chance to show of your claim it will be done no hesitation.
✰ “the others were starting to fade and it just didn’t feel right babe”
nanami, maki, MIKASA, kageyama, tanaka, HAWKS, kirishima, inouske , soap
✰ "The face you make when you cum is hot."
they respond when you ask them to stop. they’ve had their mouth and hands on you for ages making you cum endlessly. you lost count ages ago and now it’s hard to think about anything other than they way they’re making you feel. it’s hard trying not to squirm out of their hold but every time you try to move you get a swat to the thigh with a warning stare daring you to move.
✰ “I just love making you cum babe, your reactions are so sexy”
they say it as if it’s that simple. and don’t be fooled their not doing it for you. they couldn’t care less about your pleasure, they’re doing this for themselves. it turns them on so much hearing the noises they can elicit from you. they focus on you neglecting themselves, theres no need for them to as just your reactions alone can make them cum untouched.
✰ “I love you and your body so fucking much”
ITADORI, ymir, annie, erwin, sugawara, asahi, DENKI, sero, zenitsu, könig
✰ "You look good with my cum all over your face."
they say it with a near maniacal grin on their face holding you with one hand by your cheeks looking down on you the other hand smearing their cum across your face. they love to see you marked with their cum, it shows them how much control they have over you just what your willing to let them do to you and it excites them to no end. every time you fuck at some point their cum will be on your face.
✰ “don’t let any of it go to waste baby, I’ll punish you if you do”
this is their time of escape from their hectic lives the only time when the have total control over something. they only show this side to you, nobody gets to see them in this crazed state where they let out all their frustrations and fantasies on you, you wouldn’t have it any other way. the same way nobody gets to see you covered in their mess.
✰ “you’re so fucking good to me, I hope you never leave me”
megumi, LEVI, daichi, AKAASHI, ENDEAVOUR, shigiraki, giyuu, graves

love and all its cons
Tumblr media
୨୧ ━━ ❛ it’s difficult for one to familiarize themselves with the mystery that is your and isagi’s relationship, something that significantly blurs the line between friends and lovers. ❜
word count ⋆ 7.2k (7,278) genre ⋆ fluff, secret established relationship, 5+1 ━ pro-football player!isagi, pro-volleyball player & gn!reader
after months of you and isagi sending each other shy smiles, yearning glances, and dancing around your feelings, bachira decides it’s time for him and the rest of the team to intervene. mission: get isagi a significant other is a go!
warnings ⋆ alcohol consumption, all characters are 20+, everyone is a little bit of an idiot and oblivious, (brief) jealous isagi, i snuck in hinata from haikyuu!! in here bc i love him sorry, that’s it i think lmk if i missed anything!
Tumblr media
“Yeah, you’re right.”
Bachira immediately knows something’s wrong when Itoshi Rin of all people agrees with him.
The whole team is taken aback by it, too, showing their surprise with wide eyes and thinly veiled confusion. Towards the back, Reo opens up the news app on his phone, muttering about how Rin’s agreement must be some sort of bad omen, an indication that the world is ending.
“I’m sorry,” Chigiri starts, eyes narrowed, “did you just agree with Bachira? Like, willingly?”
Rin tsks, throwing all of them a look of annoyance. “Yes.”
“Are you sick or something?”
Reo finally makes his concern known, clutching his chest dramatically as he declares, “Oh, God. I really should’ve been a survivalist. Does anyone want to come to the store with me to buy non-perishables?”
Nagi sighs tiredly, rubbing his eyes with the heel of his palm. “Reo, it’s too early for you to be overdramatic.”
“It is 5pm. Practice just ended.”
Nagi responds with a yawn.
Bachira snaps out of his daze with a shake of his head. He grabs onto Rin’s arm despite the boy growling at him to let go, and forces the team into a huddle with a conspiring smile on his face. They watch him warily; a grin like that could only mean trouble, and the last time Bachira managed to drag them into his shenanigans, they ended up being slandered on national television for breaking and entering.
(He had somehow convinced the entire team it would be funny to break into Ego’s house and scare him awake).
(It was not funny. Practices for the next three months were grueling).
“We should set them up together!” Bachira exclaims delightfully.
For a moment, nobody speaks. Then, everyone looks over to Kunigami who, just last week, had come to practice with a venomous bite in his words after going on a date with someone Bachira set him up with.
Almost immediately, everyone’s voices overlap as ideas are shut down and new ones are suggested, unaware of you and Isagi watching them with a mixture of amusement and confusion. While his teammates aren’t looking, Isagi presses a kiss to your cheek and grabs you by the wrist to the farthest side of the field, where the both of you can discuss your plans for dinner without worrying about someone hearing you.
“We should just lock them up in the supply closet,” Reo says.
Kunigami shakes his head. “That would be a disaster.”
“What makes you think that?”
“I just do.”
Zantetsu muses, “Should we send both of them flowers and sign the card so they’ll think they were the ones who sent it?”
Rin scrunches his nose. “I am not spending my money on those two idiots.”
Nagi huffs. “Wouldn’t it be easier if we just told them they like each other?”
Bachira waves him off. “No. There’s no fun in that.” Then, a lightbulb turns on, and he’s clapping his hands with the excitement of a child waking up on Christmas day. “Ah! We make the both of them jealous.”
“No,” Kunigami shuts the suggestion down with a frown on his face. “that’ll create misunderstandings—”
“Awww,” Bachira whines with a pout, “you’re no fun!”
Across the field, you watch the exchange with furrowed eyebrows as Isagi orders takeout on his phone. He follows your gaze, snickering when Reo reaches over to smack Zantetsu’s head but misses and hits Rin in the face instead. Even from here, you hear everyone shouting at each other as Rin attempts to smack Reo but ends up landing a hit on Chigiri when Reo quickly ducks out of the way.
“What the hell are they doing?” you mutter as Bachira tackles Nagi with a giggle.
Isagi shrugs unhelpfully. “Don’t know.”
Someone knocks Zantetsu’s glasses of his face, which results in him gasping loudly. The arguments don’t cease despite the fact that they’re now all on the ground, attacking each other with punches and kicks only meant to bruise.
“You’re friends with a bunch of idiots, babe.”
Isagi, ever the dramatic boyfriend, looks at you as if you’ve said something so incredibly hurtful. “Excuse me, you’re friends with them, too.”
“Yeah,” you say, wincing when Bachira jumps onto Kunigami’s back and starts ruffling his hair, “Yeah, unfortunately, I am.”
Tumblr media
attempt one: bachira meguru & kunigami rensuke.
When Bachira tells Kunigami he’s planning on tricking the two of you into going on a date and watching from the sidelines, Kunigami feels he owes it to both you and Isagi to tag along, seeing as the last time he let Bachira meddle with someone’s love life (i.e. his), it ended with a chipped tooth and a trip to the dentist’s office.
(Bachira insists it’s not his fault Kunigami punched his date. Kunigami insists it is because there was absolutely no reason for Bachira to set the date up at a Five Nights at Freddy’s themed party).
This is how Kunigami finds himself lurking behind a blue van as you and Isagi walk across the parking lot, talking animatedly as you make your way towards the entrance of the arcade. Every now and then, Isagi checks his phone with annoyance and you glance at your watch with a frown.
Kunigami phone buzzes in his pocket. He already knows what the notification is before he sees it.
groupchat: blue lock!!! 🥳⚽️❤️‍🔥
isagi 🤓 > where r u guys?
Beside him, Bachira’s fingers dash across his keyboard.
bachira 🐝 > sorry! D: I won’t be able to make it 😣😓 > looks like it’s just you and y/n~~~ 😉😉😉
isagi 🤓 > ??? > what about the rest of the team
bachira 🐝 > they’re all sick unfortunately !! ):
At this point, you and Isagi have already made it to the doors. Kunigami is too far away to read Isagi’s expression, but he looks at you for a long moment, says something that makes you laugh, before he turns back to his phone.
isagi 🤓 > really?? ALL of you are sick???
bachira 🐝 > yep!
Bachira kicks Kunigami’s shin and gestures towards his phone. The taller boy sighs and begrudgingly sends a message to the groupchat.
kunigami 😵‍💫 > yeah > cough cough
Bachira hums approvingly before walking around the car and hastily making his way to the entrance. Kunigami is quick to follow, lowering his head and bending his knees in hopes to not attract any attention with his height.
Once they step inside, Kunigami is forced to lift his chin up as he searches the crowd for any sign of his friends.
“There they are!” Bachira declares excitedly, pointing to a large claw machine before dragging Kunigami to hide behind the pinball machine.
Isagi has one hand on the joystick and the other hovering over a red button, his tongue sticking out in concentration. He leans closer to the glass as the claw hovers over a blue plushie, and just as he pushes the button, you shove his other arm, causing the claw to move forward and come down at the same time. The claw, predictably, grabs onto nothing, causing Isagi to turn to you with a pout on his lips.
“Hey!” he whines, softening when your head meets his chest as your shoulders shake with laughter.
“I’m sorry,” you say in between giggles. When you look up at him, he tries his best to look unimpressed, but he can’t bite back the smile that blooms across his face. “I’m sorry, Yoichi, I really am, but you have to admit it was pretty funny.”
“And to think I was going to win that for you!”
You glance at him, unconvinced, and then to the Snorlax plushie staring back at the both of you. “Yeah, right. You were gonna keep that for yourself.”
It’s silent for two heartbeats before Isagi sighs. “Yeah, I was gonna keep it for myself.”
“You’re a terrible boyf—”
“Um, excuse me?”
Kunigami and Bachira jump in surprise, turning to face an exhausted employee. She has her arms crossed over her chest as she suspiciously looks between the pair of football players hiding behind an arcade game. Kunigami’s eyes widen in realization. He doesn’t exactly know what conclusion this woman has come to, but he knows that two men — with baseball caps on their heads, sunglasses on the bridge of their noses, and masks on their faces — lurking in the shadows of an arcade is bound raise a few eyebrows.
“Oh, hello!” Bachira greets with too much chirpiness for Kunigami’s liking, but he can tell his friend is nervous when Bachira glances at you and Isagi, who still — thankfully — haven’t looked over to the commotion by the pinball machines. “Sorry, we were just… waiting for our turn.”
The woman blinks. “You’ve been standing here doing nothing for five minutes. Nobody’s touched the pinball machine because they thought you guys were going to play.”
Kunigami scratches the back of his neck. “Well…”
He doesn’t continue.
The woman looks at them incredulously. “Well?”
Kunigami looks at Bachira, panicked, silently begging for help. Bachira blinks back up at him and shrugs.
Ever since he met Bachira Meguru, Kunigami swears years have been continuously removed from his lifespan.
“We can’t allow you guys to stay if you’re not going to play any games. It’s company policy.”
“Oh! Then we’ll just play! Um…” Kunigami trails off as he begins patting his pockets, eyebrows knitting together when he feels wrappers, his ID, house keys — everything but his wallet. He looks at Bachira. “I don’t have any money.”
“Well, don’t look at me! I don’t have any, either!”
Across from them, the woman sighs.
Kunigami’s eyes almost pop out of their sockets. “What do you mean? You paid our taxi driver!”
Bachira nods. “Yes, but that was the last of my change.”
Kunigami’s eye twitches.
Over at the claw machine, you and Isagi have diverted your attention towards your friends. Your suspicion is written all over your face and Isagi, with a grin bright enough to rival the sun, has pulled out his phone to record.
“Is that…?”
Isagi snickers. “Yup.”
“I thought you said they were sick.”
“That’s what they told me,” Isagi explains, holding in his laughter as the employee politely asks Kunigami and Bachira to leave the vicinity. “But I think they’re just spying on us.”
Curiously, you ask, “Why would they do that?”
Isagi doesn’t respond. Instead, he ends the video and pulls up Blue Lock’s groupchat, which includes him and all his teammates. He scrolls up to a text from two nights ago.
bachira 🐝 > okay operation set isagi and y/n up is a GO!!!! :D 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 > does everyone remember their positions?!! 🫡
rin 😐 > Please shut the fuck up
Tumblr media
attempt two: zantetsu tsurugi.
Zantetsu is stressed.
He’s been watching Isagi like a hawk ever since practice started, sticking to him like glue by never leaving his side. He follows Isagi when it’s time for drills, chats with him during break, and joins him to his trip to the water fountain. And yet, despite how much they’ve talked today, Isagi still has yet to mention the flowers.
Zantetsu’s learned the hard way that flowers are expensive, but he still sent two bouquets last night — one to your apartment and one to Isagi’s; he’d even gotten Bachira to sign the cards so it would look like you got the flowers for each other.
(When Reo said the forgery was awful, Zantetsu dismissed him with a roll of his eyes).
But Isagi hasn’t said a word about it. And, during the fifteen minutes you popped by, you didn’t say anything about it, either.
Zantetsu sits on the bench, close to pulling his hair out. On one side of him is Nagi, nonchalant as his thumbs dash across his phone screen; on the other side is Reo, who watches you and Isagi laugh with a look of disgust plastered across his face.
“I don’t get it,” Zantetsu groans, putting his head in his hands. “I checked with the florist six times.”
Reo snorts. “Are you sure you got their addresses right?”
“Yes! Look!” Zantetsu opens up his phone and scrolls through the digital receipt in his email. Reo looks over his shoulder and confirms the addresses with a grunt.
Nagi barely glances at his teammate’s screen before muttering, “Stupid Zantetsu.”
“What! but I did everything right!”
“Well, there’s no one else to blame,” Nagi drawls. “You’re the only one who bought the flowers.”
Zantetsu slips off the bench and lies down on the grass, muttering incoherent complaints while Nagi pays him no mind and Reo starts poking his side with the toe of his shoe.
(What Zantetsu doesn’t know, however, is that you did receive the flowers. Isagi had been at your apartment when you got the delivery and texted you that someone on the team had sent you daisies along with a card that badly resembled his signature).
(There is also the fact that Isagi spends more time at your apartment than he does at his. Five months after Zantetsu ordered the flowers, you and Isagi go to his home to pack up his things so he can officially move in with you, only to find a bouquet of dead roses on his doorstep).
Tumblr media
attempt three: chigiri hyoma, mikage reo, & nagi seishiro.
Reo kind of likes the power that comes with playing God.
Ever since Kunigami and Bachira got kicked out of the arcade, Reo’s been plotting. He’s unlike his usual self — instead of bursting with energy, Reo comes to practice silent. He’s scrutinizing Isagi so much that the boy has started avoiding him; he’s been asking you random questions whenever you visit; under the guise of caring for his teammates, Reo has made a shared Google calendar and forced everyone to add their schedules to it (really, he’s just trying to see when Isagi is free so he can set this plan in motion).
And what Reo wants, Reo gets, and Chigiri shouldn’t have been surprised when Reo comes up to him with a 30-slide PowerPoint.
“Hear me out,” he’d said when Chigiri opened the door to his apartment. “I’m a fucking genius.”
Chigiri had no time to reply before Reo was letting himself in.
The party — a trap disguised in diamonds and alcohol, is what Reo refers to this as — is in full swing when Chigiri arrives, toeing off his shoes as he nods to familiar faces whose names he can’t quite remember and brushing off anyone who offers him a drink. He finds Nagi in the corner leaning against the wall, surprisingly off his phone, and staring at two people in the living room.
You and Isagi have taken the couch hostage. While there may be room for someone to sit, Chigiri can see why people don’t. Even from a few feet away, he feels as if he’s intruding when he watches Isagi stare up at you with his head in your lap and your fingers combing through his hair.
There is no way friends are this affectionate with each other.
Chigiri doesn’t have time to dwell before Bachira, who may as well be bouncing off the walls, swoops in to pull Isagi off your lap. He slowly rises, engulfed with sharp irritation that’s wiped away as soon as you place a hand on your shoulder and murmur a temporary farewell.
“They’re stupid,” Nagi mutters. Chigiri silently agrees.
It doesn’t take long for Reo to find them, hyper and euphoric, and Chigiri wonders if he’s either drunk off alcohol or adrenaline. He places a hand on both Chigiri and Nagi’s shoulders before declaring in true dramatic Mikage Reo fashion, “It’s game time.”
Nagi cringes. “But I’m too tired.”
“I gave you the easiest assignment!” Reo exclaims incredulously.
“Luring Isagi into your room sounds far from easy.”
“Would you rather be chasing after Y/N?”
Nagi frowns, glancing over at you. You’re strategically slipping through the crowd to avoid people you don’t want to speak to, politely giving them smiles before you disappear from sight. It’s almost as if the shadows are swallowing you whole and teleporting you to another area in the penthouse.
Nagi shakes his head and halfheartedly wishes Chigiri good luck before beginning his search for Isagi.
Chigiri sighs as Reo slaps him on the shoulder and pushes him out from his safe place against the wall, similar to that of a mother letting her child play in the playground. A rather chaotic, migraine-inducing playground.
With an annoyed huff, he begins walking the perimeters of the penthouse, scanning the crowd in hopes of finding you in your desperate attempts to vanish. He knows you find these rambunctious gatherings more bearable when you’re with Isagi; you may be friends with the entire team (one time he overheard Zantetsu saying you were one of his emergency contacts), but there is nothing that compares to your closeness with Isagi. People have tried and failed to puncture the bubble the two of you live in.
It’s difficult for one to familiarize themselves with the mystery that is your and Isagi’s relationship, something that significantly blurs the line between friends and lovers.
Chigiri may not be as observant as his other teammates, but he can spot love when he sees it. Especially if it is so ridiculously obvious that it might as well be as blinding as the sun.
He finds you in mere minutes — clearly not fast enough for Reo, who he knows is the culprit behind the continuous buzzing coming from his device. You’re in the kitchen, sitting atop a counter, nursing a glass of apple juice. When you see Chigiri in the doorway, you smile, though the tension in your body remains.
“Hi,” you greet. He makes his way towards you, swift but nonchalant. “Having fun?”
“A little. You?” At your grimace, he laughs. “You didn’t seem to be this miserable when I saw you with Isagi earlier.”
It’s bait, you know it’s bait. He expects you to brush it off with stammered words and wandering eyes but instead you shrug, hiding your smile behind the cup. If Chigiri is surprised at your silent admission, he doesn’t show it.
“Yeah, but he’s not here right now, so…”
Chigiri hums teasingly. “You two looked cozy on the couch.”
You snort, downing the rest of your juice before placing the cup in the sink beside you. “He was just telling me about how Zantetsu was trailing after him like a lost puppy yesterday at practice.”
Comparing Zantetsu’s behaviour to that of a puppy is pushing it, but Chigiri decides now isn’t the time to protest. He wonders if you’re aware about the flower mishap — or if you even received the flowers in the first place.
“Did you get flowers a few days ago?”
You raise an eyebrow. “Uh, yeah. It said they were from Yoichi.” Chigiri’s eyes widen, urging you to continue. Maybe, just maybe, he won’t have to resort to locking you in a room to deal with your feelings. “But the penmanship was so atrociously bad I assumed the bouquet was from Bachira.”
All hope disappears. It shows in the way Chigiri’s shoulders droop and the way he rubs his temples, missing your small, amused smirk.
“Okay,” Chigiri clasps his hands together with the type of determination you only see on the football field. “You’re hopeless.”
You scoff. “Excuse me?”
“I know where Isagi is,” Chigiri states instead of offering an explanation.
Getting you to follow him is easy enough. With childlike excitement, you jump off the counter and trail behind him with a smile on your face. There seems to be more energy and pep in your steps, and your smile is so wide Chigiri is surprised you’re able to keep it on your face without your cheeks hurting.
And this doesn’t even compare to how Isagi acts at the sole mention of you. Chigiri wonders if setting the two of you up is the best for his sanity; he’s not quite sure he’ll be able to handle such a chipper, lovesick Isagi everyday during practice.
But then he glances at his notifications, snorting at Nagi’s anguished messages to hurry up, because hearing Isagi talk about you is much worse than watching three cheesy Hallmark romcoms back to back. Perhaps, Chigiri thinks, it would be cruel to not push the two of you together. He can worry about the suffering he’ll have to endure in the future.
Once he’s led you to the end of the hallway where Reo and Nagi loiter just outside the guest room, you falter in your steps. The next few seconds are a flurry of confusion and snappy remarks, and the next thing you know, you’re shoved into a room and the door behind you is locked with an obnoxious click.
Isagi shoots up from where he was previously lying on the bed. “Thank God you’re here. I wasn’t sure if they were just going to leave me in here by myself.”
You sigh, making your way towards the bed. Isagi shuffles to make space for you. His hands find their home around your waist before he uses them to pull you against him.
You grumble as he nestles his face into the crook of your neck. “You were right.”
You feel him smirk against your skin. “Right about what?” he asks with faux perplexity.
“You know what.”
“Hm, I really don’t.”
You huff, flicking the back of his hand, and he responds with a laugh. “They’re trying to set us up.”
“Yeah, that much was obvious, babe.”
“I thought they already knew,” you say, meeting his gaze when he lifts his head up to meet yours.
“I thought we agreed to keep this a secret.”
“No, I know,” you say, but then you gesture towards the door, and add, with bewildered mirth, “but it’s not like we’re being very secretive. I thought they would have figured it out by now.”
Isagi guffaws and despite just how loud it is, you lean into his touch, yearning to hear it again. “Didn’t you say they were idiots?”
“I didn’t think they were this oblivious.”
“And to think that’s what they’re saying about us,” Isagi smiles but it turns serious as he places his chin on your shoulder. “But do you want to tell them?”
You want to say yes. When you first agreed to this secret relationship — to avoid pressing questions and people invading your privacy — sneaking around quickly became tiresome. And it still is, though you admit it’s nicer to interact with your boyfriend in the confines of your apartment and the stadium whenever you visit, away from any prying eyes that could twist every interaction. You feel the most comfortable with him there, away from the public eye, and you know he feels the same way.
However, it might be nice for your close friends to know.
But then you remember how, just last night, you and Isagi were huddled around his phone, laughing at the ridiculous plans his teammates have made in order to get you two alone together. It seems that they’ve forgotten that your boyfriend’s in the chat too, and their naivety has become newfound entertainment.
You’re curious to find out what else they have up their sleeves. When you look at Isagi, you know he shares the same sentiment.
He grins. “That’s settled, then. What do you think they’re going to do next?”
“Bachira seems very adamant about the jealousy plan.”
Isagi snorts. “I kind of want to see where he goes with that.”
Your eyes narrow. “Why?”
He pecks your nose. “Because you’re cute when you’re jealous. And it boosts my ego.” you scoff, but before you can even think about replying, Isagi says, “Hey, do you want to leave and make out in Reo’s room?”
“We’re locked in here,” you deadpan.
Isagi lets go of you and walks towards the door. He points at the doorknob with a wide grin on his face.
The room locks from both the inside and the out.
You let out a disappointed sigh.
Sometimes you worry that the next time you see Reo, he’s going to be swindled out of a million dollars.

attempt four: bachira meguru (again) ft. itoshi rin.
This really could be the best idea Bachira’s ever had — the thing is, though, nobody has the slightest ounce of faith in him. Which, if he’s being honest, is kind of offensive.
(So what if he and Kunigami got kicked out of the arcade a few days ago? Sometimes genius plans fail! It doesn’t mean Bachira’s lost his touch).
The team has found themselves at a gala, surrounded by athletes and sponsors alike in a large ballroom smelling of wealth and prestige. Caterers carrying trays of champagne flutes slip through the crowd with practiced ease, faces painted with polite smiles that do not waver despite the football team’s — read: Bachira and Zantetsu’s — overwhelming excitement.
Rin, who narrowly escaped a conversation with a bubbly volleyball player he barely remembers the name of, walks into a prison as worse as forced small-talk. With Bachira by his side, he scowls as the shorter boy starts unsubtly pointing towards you and Isagi, whispering amongst yourselves with reserved smiles and fond eyes.
“This is stupid,” Rin says monotonously when Bachira suggests that Rin should split you and Isagi apart.
“It’s not!” Bachira argues, growing annoyed at Rin’s apathy. “Tonight’s the best night to make one of ‘em jealous. Hey, what about I split them up and you make them jealous?”
Rin’s response is simple and curt, “No.”
Bachira sighs, though he can’t say he’s surprised.
The night goes on without many bumps in the road. Rin stays by Bachira once he learns that nobody’s willing to talk to him if he pretends he’s preoccupied in a conversation, no matter how one-sided it is. Some of his teammates join in for a bit before they drift away again; Reo stops by to encourage them to talk to sponsors (Rin scowls in response), Kunigami and Zantetsu tell Rin on separate occasions he looks like he stepped in shit, Chigiri halfheartedly wishes Bachira luck, and even Nagi came by for a few minutes to talk to them.
The only teammate Rin hasn’t spoken a word to is Isagi.
He really doesn’t care, but he thinks he’d rather have a conversation with him than have to painfully watch him pine over you. The sight of it bothers him so much he’s actually considering going along with Bachira’s plan, but before he can open his mouth and spout out words he’ll likely regret, somebody comes by and takes you away.
And you let him.
For a moment, Rin’s eyes widen.
“What the—” Bachira squeaks, jaw slack. “Who is that?”
Rin recognizes the man as one of the people he avoided having a conversation with. His hair is bright, matching the excitement in his grin and the radiance in his eyes, and Rin’s pretty sure he’s seen him on billboards and advertisements hanging on the large glass windows of retail stores.
There is familiarity in his touch, Rin realizes. But there is something between the two of you that doesn’t match the atmosphere between you and Isagi — there are joyful grins and clumsy movements, sure, but it all seems friendly.
He frowns, glances at Bachira, only to find him staring at Isagi, and Rin wonders if the champagne has messed with his imagination or if there is actual smoke is coming out of Isagi’s ears.
Well. At least Bachira didn’t even have to lift a finger.
Only a couple seconds pass before Isagi grumbles and stands from his seat, walking over to where Rin and Bachira watch you and the unknown man dance next to the other couples in the ballroom. When Isagi stands in front of them, he is the perfect picture of a man wronged, his usual boyish smile replaced with an annoyed frown.
“Hello, Yoichi!” Bachira greets, though his voice is strained, and his wandering eyes don’t fail to show his discomfort. “We haven’t seen you all night.”
Isagi grunts. “Sorry.”
Rin really shouldn’t find pleasure in this, but he thinks it’s a little funny. However, his face is blank when he states, “Y/N looks like they’re having fun.”
Rin expects Isagi to glare at him with the same intensity he has on the field, but Isagi only pouts. “Uh-huh.”
“Who’s the guy they’re dancing with?” asks Bachira.
“His name’s Hinata,” Isagi grumbles, taking a champagne flute from a passing caterer’s tray. He mumbles a thanks before continuing, “He’s a volleyball player, so they met through that when he first moved to Tokyo.”
“Ah,” Bachira nods. Then, rubbing salt into the wound, he adds, “So they’re, like, super close?”
“I guess?”
“Are they dating?”
Isagi’s expression sours. “Definitely not.”
“How unfortunate,” Rin muses. He doesn’t bother to veil the glint of mischief in his eye, but Isagi is too preoccupied swirling his glass in disgust to notice, “They’d look nice together.”
(Bachira is sure the world has been thrown off-balance. Did Itoshi Rin just play instigator? For the sake of his teammate’s love life? He feels like this moment needs to be documented).
Isagi hums but doesn’t offer anything else. His posture is a lot more rigid than usual and he burns holes into the back of your head with an infuriating amount of infatuated neediness. It is only when the song ends that he relaxes, smiling wide when you part ways with Hinata to make your way to him.
Like metal to a magnet, you attach yourself to Isagi’s side, eyebrows furrowing at Rin’s contemplation and Bachira’s determination.
Shuffling awkwardly on your feet, you flash the both of them a wary smile before asking, “Are you guys having fun?”
Bachira grins and your stomach sinks. You’re not sure if you’re going to like where this is going to go. “Not as fun as you, I bet!”
You share a look with Isagi that only the two of you can decipher. “What do you mean?”
“We saw you dancing with Hinata,” your friend explains animatedly, pointing towards the boy seated at a table with his own teammates. “He’s cute! Have you ever thought about dating him?”
Rin’s face contorts into one of displeasure. Bachira does not have one subtle bone in his body.
You blink. Isagi places a hand on your shoulder and squeezes, an action that doesn’t go unnoticed. “No? He’s my friend.”
“Oh! So, like Isagi?”
Isagi’s hand drops from your shoulder. Beside him, you’re biting the inside of your cheek, but the amusement on your face is as clear as day. “Bachira,” Isagi warns, frazzled and panicked.
Bachira frowns, confused by Isagi’s uneasiness. “What?” he questions, tone light and mischievous. He draws all his focus onto you, and you suddenly feel as if you’ve been shoved into an interrogation room. “It’s just a question! Even Rin said you two would look nice together!”
“He’s a friend,” you repeat, and it feels more like a reassurance for the boy next to you than anything else. “Speaking of which, Hinata wanted to talk to you, Yoichi, about the game last week. He said he wanted to congratulate you.”
Isagi brightens at the reminder of his goal that earned them a victory. “Oh—!”
“Wait,” Bachira interjects, eyebrows raised in curiosity. “You know him? Like, personally?”
“Yeah, we’re friends—”
Bachira gapes. “You have friends?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I meant other than us!” Bachira adds quickly. His mouth is hanging open, and the loudness of his shock has drawn the attention of the other guests, causing you to shrink into yourself. Your hand finds Isagi’s before you tug him away, throwing apologetic glances at any questioning looks you find yourself on the receiving end of.
“You idiot,” Rin hisses, “people are staring.”
Before Bachira can say anything more about his utter shock at Isagi having a social life outside of football, someone taps Rin on the shoulder. It’s an older man, presumably someone who wants to sponsor him, and at the sight, Rin glowers. When he looks over his shoulder in hopes of throwing Bachira under the bus, he sees that the spot beside him is empty.
A few feet away, a caterer yelps when Bachira accidentally bumps into them.
Rin grits his teeth.
(On your way to Hinata’s table, you snort, “And here I thought you liked Bachira’s jealousy plan.”
Isagi rolls his eyes. “Shut up.”
“Aw, don’t be like that, Yoichi,” you coo, which only causes his pout to grow, “I think you look cute when you’re jealous.”
“I hate you.”
You laugh and he tugs you closer to his side. “No,” you say softly, “you love me.”)
Tumblr media
attempt five: itoshi rin.
Whoever thinks that Rin is doing this because he cares is way off base.
If anything, he’s doing this for the sake of his own wellbeing. He was stupid to leave this situation in the hands of his teammates, who have yet to make any progress on doing something about Isagi’s ridiculous pining.
This is how Rin finds himself standing in front of you, awkward and out of place, as you slowly place your duffel bag on the bench. Behind you, your teammates are warming up for the upcoming game, throwing the occasional perplexed glance at Rin’s intimidating figure, before deeming it better to brush him off and ask you about him later.
“Rin, hi,” you say apprehensively. “The game isn’t until five.”
“I know.”
“And it’s three.”
“I know.”
You wrinkle your nose at his tone but choose to ignore it so you can put your kneepads on and tie your shoelaces. In the corner of your eye, Rin continues to just stand; he’s so rigid that you’re convinced that a light shove is all you need for him to tip over and shatter on the floor like glass.
When the comfortable silence begins to grow awkward, Rin clears his throat, “I need to talk to you.”
“You could’ve just called me.”
“You wouldn’t have answered,” he deadpans, briefly glancing towards your phone, silenced, and peeking out the side of your bag, “and it’s important.”
“More important than preparing for a game?”
You gesture around you. Volleyballs soar through the air once they make contact with skin, forearms are tinged red, and shoes squeak against the vulcanized rubber floors. When Rin looks at you, you’re itching to leave, eager to part from him and this conversation in order to get your hands on a ball.
Rin hesitates. “Well… no?”
With a sigh and roll of your eyes, you point to the door. “Okay, well, tell me about it later. I’ll see you—”
“It’s about Isagi.”
You freeze.
“What about him?” you ask. Your previous chagrin has quickly been replaced by worry. A mien that’s a mixture of love and panic is painted across your face as you hastily grab your phone (Rin notices your lockscreen is a candid photo of Isagi playing with a cat on the screen) and open your messages.
“He likes you.”
A quiet moment passes.
Then, you croak, “I’m sorry?”
“He likes you,” Rin repeats uncomfortably. “He has feelings for you.”
You stare. Rin prepares himself for the flurry of feelings he’s sure he will be hit with in a matter of seconds. An assortment of disbelief and hope and infatuation that will come once you’ve been snapped out of your still state, face blank as the cogs in your mind begin to turn.
He prepares himself for your emotions.
Instead, he’s met with a harsh shove on his shoulder and the same annoyance that was on your face a few minutes ago. “That’s the emergency?” you exclaim incredulously. “I— This is unbelievable. This really couldn’t wait until later?”
Rin can barely contain his shock. This is the last reaction he was expecting. He’s seen only a handful of romance films, but he knows that they always involve a timid denial of feelings. When he came here, on his day off, with the intention of finally putting an end to everyone’s misery, he expected you to falter and soften before dialling Isagi’s number and confessing.
He did not prepare for your disbelief — not at his words, but more so at him.
“Did you hear what I said?”
“Yes. Thank you for informing me. Now, can you go?”
Rin cannot believe his ears. “Do you understand what I just said?”
“Yes, I—”
“I’m pretty sure he—”
“I get it,” you interject, opting to start pushing him towards the exit. “And I already thanked you for telling me, it really is appreciated. I’ll see you at the game, yeah? Bye.”
With that, you spin on your heel and stomp over to the court, leaving Rin to stand in the door, dumbfounded.
Well, that is the first and the last time he’ll ever do something nice for you or Isagi Yoichi.
Tumblr media
Isagi isn’t quite sure what he’s done wrong.
When his teammates take their seats one by one, he immediately notices the defeat strewn across their faces. Alarmed, he asks if they’re alright, but all he receives in response is Chigiri’s fatigued sigh and a sharp glare from Rin.
His eyes find yours once you step onto the court, and with a shrug of your shoulders and a reassuring smile, Isagi sweeps his worry under the rug. He knows you’ll end up telling him what you know later anyway, whether it be in the car or under the duvet, his thumbs rubbing circles on your wrist as you’re both lulled into slumber.
But right now, Isagi redirects all his energy into focussing on the game.
He ignores the chatter beside him, rapid bickering that doesn’t evolve into a full-out argument, and watches as you strike a ball to the floor with impressive ferocity. Isagi is the first out of his seat to shout for joy, followed by the rest of the delighted crowd. The smile of his face is so blinding it might as well light up the entire gymnasium.
After every point you score, he’s on his feet. Pride swells in his chest as your team inches closer and closer to victory. His cheeks hurt from how much he’s smiling, especially since it grows every time you make eye contact with him on the stands, beaming. After each set, Isagi makes a mental list of different things he could do to have you look at him that again.
It is only during the last set when Isagi’s smile drops. The intensity on his face is not dissimilar to the one he dons during a game, and his teammates bristle at the sight of it, unfamiliar to seeing it off the field. They can’t blame his sudden seriousness, though, because while your team is at match point, the opponents aren’t too far behind.
The whistle blows. A player serves the volleyball into the air.
Everything happens in slow motion. Isagi wonders if this is what it feels like to watch his games from the sidelines, with every breath feeling like it may thwart a play and every movement causing anxiety to crawl up his throat like bile.
When your hand touches the ball, spiking it for what Isagi swears is the nth time of the day, time no longer stands still. The crowd roars as you’re crushed into a hug by your teammates, all wearing matching grins of triumph.
The next few moments are the consequence of a split second decision.
Isagi didn’t know he was going to do this when he woke up this morning, the spot beside him cold and a text on his phone reminding him to eat breakfast. He spends the entire day doing the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, and moping in your absence, too busy to even consider going through with an act that could be a PR disaster.
But then you look at him, and you’re shining, and Isagi decides to give in.
He’s out of his chair within seconds, waving off the questioning remarks coming from his friends as he speeds to the court.
(He’s more than grateful that security knows who he is by now, because if he were any other guy, he would’ve been detained the moment his feet touched the floor).
You seem to understand all his intentions by the time he’s within earshot. That’s the one thing about you that Isagi could only imagine wrapping his head around. All it takes is one glance, one second, for you to know what he desires. It almost makes his heart burst, at the realization that somebody loves him so much that they know every inch of him.
“I’m sweaty,” you say once you’ve escaped your teammates’ grasp.
Isagi raises an eyebrow, because when has that ever stopped him? “I don’t care.”
Your face is in his hands within seconds, cradled in delicate fingers that contrast the way his lips move with enough passion to light the world on fire. Curling your fingers around his belt loops, you pull him closer before resting your hands on the sides of his neck with your thumb tracing his jawline.
Being with Isagi under the spotlight like this is exhilarating.
The happiness, however, is short lived.
“What the hell!” Bachira shrieks, and Isagi pulls away — not too far, though — and rests his head against your forehead, sighing. “Does this mean my plan worked?”
Rin growls. “There is no way in hell you’re taking credit for this.”
“Actually,” Reo chimes in, “I’m pretty sure Chigiri, Nagi, and I are the reason for all of this.”
Zantetsu scoffs, immediately pushing past Reo to get closer to you and Isagi. “No, this means you guys got the flowers—”
Isagi lifts his head up, exasperated. “We’ve been dating for five months.”
He had been hoping that statement alone would be enough to get them to shut up.
He is dreadfully wrong.
“What?” Chigiri exclaims. “So, everything we did was for nothing?”
“Wait,” Kunigami interjects, eyebrows furrowed. “So that means you guys have been giggly and insufferable all these months because you’ve been dating?”
You muse. “Yeah, I guess so.”
“And that’s not going to change?”
Isagi throws his arm over your shoulder. “Oh, definitely not.”
Silence.
Then, Bachira tugs Rin’s sleeve and gestures for everybody to get into a huddle.
“Guys,” he says in what you assume is his attempt at a whisper, but you’re close enough to hear, even with the surprised clamor from the audience. “We need to break them up.”
Isagi squawks in protest, letting go of you to force himself into the huddle.
You watch the scene with a fond smile. One of your teammates comes up beside you and murmurs in wonder, “Your boyfriend and his friends sure are something.”
“What, idiots? You can say idiots.”
Your teammate snorts. “Yeah. It’s a little endearing, though.”
You laugh, nodding in agreement, and when Isagi calls you over to help, you take his hand and let him drag you into the circle, shooting down all the suggestions they’ve jokingly made about you dumping him.
You’ve come to the realization that you fit. Right here, next to Isagi, there will always be a place for you. Perhaps, then, that makes you an idiot by association.
(You don’t think you’d have it any other way).

I have this angsty haikyuu request if you’re alright with writing it
So (name) has a crush on Ryu but the problem is that Ryu doesn’t return the feelings for (name) instead Ryu has his heart set on kiyoko which would send (name) in a unrequited love situation and trying to forget and get rid of his feelings for Ryu even though it pains him to see Ryu being happy with someone else. (name) knows he and Tanaka would never be together he struggles with dealing with it
Tumblr media
The sound of volleyballs hitting the gym floor filled the gym. Sugawara frowned softly at site of his oldest friend looking so upset. (Name) had asked Tanaka if he wanted to hang out after practice, unfortunately he was ignored again.
Sugawara slowly placed a hand on his shoulder. "Why do you keep doing this to yourself?" (Name) didn't answer, just stared as the male he's grown to love, chase after the other manager. (Name)'s heart breaking more and more. He'd grown to love the rowdy male with everything he has.
Sugawara sighed and softly grabbed (Name)'s arm. Pulling him away slowly. Trying to get him away from the scene. Most of the other players watched in pity. Except Tsukishima who huffed and rolled his eyes. He was gettig sick of tired of the situation. Everyone knew how (Name) felt about Tanaka. Well everyone except Tanaka apparently.
He was tired of seeing this everyday. So when practice finished Tsukishima made his way over to where (Name) was picking up the volleyballs. "Why do you keep chasing that idiot? We all know he doesn’t like you back. So why? Why keep trying when you know you won't succeed?" (Name) dropped the volleyball and stared at him.
(Name) opened and closed his mouth a few times, but didn't say anything. He turned and looked at the said male who was chasing after Kiyoko. Yet again. (Name) sighed and looked back at the male in front of him. "I don't know. I've liked him for so long. I honestly don't know."
Tsukishima sighed. "Well find someone else to fawn over then. I'm tired of seeing this everyday. Just move on already." (Name) flinched and looked down. Playing with his shirt. "Move on to who? Nobody would want to be with me." Tsukishima frowned more before sighing. "I-I like you."
(Name) froze. Had he heard that right? "What?" "I said, I like you idiot." (Name) looked so confused. "Why?" Tsukishima blushed and looked away. "I just do!" (Name) frowned. "That isn't an answer Tsukishima." Tsukishima clicked his tounge and took a deep breath. "Y-You're a good guy." (Name) held his breath. "You're always helping the idiots. You don't give up on them, even if others tell you to."
"You always have a smile and you always make my day better. You've helped me find a reason to enjoy volleyball. You make me enjoy playing and you make me not want to give up." (Name)'s eyes filled with tears. By now the whole gym was watching. Tsukishima pulled (Name) into a hug, and whispered into his ear. "So give me a chance please?"
~
Its been a month since (Name) and Tsukishima got together. Almost everyone was happy for them. Well everyone except Tanaka.
As a laughing (Name) entered the gym, Tsukishima followed behind him. An arm wrapped around his waist and a soft smile on his face. Sugawara entered behind the two clutching his sides. The other third and first years followed through. The second years had already been in the gym. It looked like they were having a great time.
So why does Tanaka's heart hurt so much seeing how happy his is? Noya raced towards the new happy couple. Jumping around the two. Momentarily frightening (Name) who stumbled back into his boyfriend. Sugawara started laughing again along with everyone else. Tanaka couldn't move his eyes fro the scene.
When was the last time (Name) even talked to him? Much less even looked in his direction. Tanaka frowned. Grabbing at the shirt were his heart was. His chest ached at the scene. Tanaka went to talk to (Name), but was interupted when his uncle grabbed (Name) by the back of his shirt.
Kenshin gave Tsukishima a look to release his nephew. Which he reluctantly did, not wanting to run laps. Like he had to do last time he refused to give up his boyfriend. (Name) laughed at his boyfriends pouting face. He was so glad he gave the taller male a chance. He was so happy, the most happiest he's ever been.
Tanaka watched the scene with pain filled eyes. Ennoshita gripped his shoulder softly. "I kept telling you to stop ignoring him, and to give him a chance. Look where that got you. Kiyoko is dating Yachi. (Name) got with Tsukishima. This was your own fault you know." Then Ennoshita made his way over to the group and ruffled (Name)'s hair. Earning a groan and pout from the said male.
Tanaka thought for a moment. If he had given (Name) a chance, could he had made him this happy? Would (Name) still light up the gym with his smile and laugh? Tanaka's frowned deepened and he looke away from the scene. He should be happy, so why is he so sad and hurt?

Sooo i just finished reading the kamokedai match and i need to express the thousand emotions going through my head rn (rant)
WARNING: VERY HEAVY SPOILERS and a BUNCH OF YELLING AND RANTING
if you dont wanna get yelled at i suggest you ignore this post :)
yes yes I know im VERY late to the party and that this manga ended years ago but i just finished reading this so lemme just get it outta my system and ill be on my way
First of all WHAT THE HECC FURUDATE WHY U GOTTA DO US LIKE THAT
they rlly made it so that hinata got sick at the worst possible time huh
like i get it, its to build even more tension but they didnt have to do that i mean cmon my heart was beating stupidly fast while reading that. Takeda even made a whole like five page speech to hinata which is what made us readers all go "oh ye we're losing this match arent we"
And they even made tsukki have to go on the bench cause of his leg becuase why not rub more salt into the wound amiright?
Anyways after the out of pocket plot twist where hinata goes to the hospital it not much of a suprise that kamokedai won but it still hurt ToT.
Yes, i actually thought they had a chance of winning ok? i get that kamokedai is much better than karasuno but still. they couldve won ;(
and then out of nowhere ITACHIYAMA LOST??!!! like what the actual flic flac??!! bro is hitting us with 50 different plot twists at once. First hinata get a fever, then tsukki also goes outta action, then they lose the match, then itachiyama also loses the match WHYYYYYY
i was not mentally prepared for this and was so looking forward to seeing sakusa and the libero whos name i forgot play against fukurodani in the finals but NOPE I GUESS WE AINT GETTING THAT TODAY
Now onto the MAIN REASON I AM TYPING THIS (yes im just warming up here folks)
I am a HUGE fukurodani fan they will always be my #1 favourite team
i thought we were gonna see the semi final and finals matches after karasuno lost but NOPE they just skipped those and was like TIMESKIP TIME WHO CARES ABOUT FUKURODANI :D
(i havent read the timeskip yet since, apart from bokuto, none of my faves are playing volleyball)
so naturally, i turned towards google to see if they do win the nationals
I WAS SO CERTAIN FUKURODANI WERE GONNA WIN THE NATIONALS YOU HAVE NO IDEA I PUT MY HEART ON THE LINE AND WAS 100% SURE THAT THEY WERE GONNA WIN EM ALL YK WHY??
DO
YOU
WANT
TO
KNOW
WHY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BECAUSE FURUDATE MADE IT SOUND LIKE THEY WERE REALLY DESTINED TO WIN THE WHOLE DAM THING
SO WHEN THEY LOST TO SOME RANDOM NOBODY SCHOOL THAT WE'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF AND DOESNT HAVE ANY BACKGROUND AT ALL ACTUALLY KILLED ME SO BAD
they purposely got our hopes up and made us think that fukurodani were gonna be the ones to win (FUKURODANI WERE THE PROTAGONISTS OF THE WORLD, not karasuno!)
i fell for the trap, hook line and sinker 😭😭😭
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
seriously i dont get why furudate couldnt have just made fukurodani win instead?? everyone would be happy about that, and its not like its unrealistic, they're an amazing team, as shown multiple times in the manga!!!
GRRRrrrrr i am angry and sad and mad and depressed and my heart hurts and i feel like screaming into my pillow again
but i feel bad for being so negative in this post so i will end it on a (sorta) positive note for those who actually read that far into this rant lol
Tumblr media
THIS ENDING OF FUKURODANI ACTUALLY MADE ME DIE (out of happiness this time)
they arent that depressed about losing bc they know that 2nd in the WHOLE OF JAPAN is still an AMAZING FEAT and that if they werent on the same team, then they wouldnt have gotten that far
konoha says hes grateful and considers himself super lucky that they were all on the same team (and specifically that bokuto was on the team since he's one of the nation's top aces)
and wow thats so amazing i just cant
MY EMOTIONS AHHH
anyways sorry for yelling to you so much, i just had to get this outta my system
The manga was GREAT and i enjoyed reading it so much haikyuu is my favourite anime and im so so glad i stumbled upon it!!! i seriously cant wait for this to get animated

Starshine [Haikyuu]
Tumblr media
chapter three
♡ anime masterlist ♡ previous chapter ♡ next chapter ♡
Kokoa Sugawara got through life by being herself. She didn't know how to be anyone else. Often times she felt as though she was stuck in her brother's shadow, after all, they liked many of the same things and constantly did the same things. Only, he was the fantastic volleyball player that everyone loved. She was just the sports photographer following in her twin's footsteps. But one day, she meets a boy whose freckles are aligned like stars, guiding her to him.
Tadashi was used to being in Kei's shadow. In fact, he often liked it that way. When he and Kokoa meet, he finds that he doesn't mind being in the spotlight, as long as she's controlling its gaze.
pairing(s): tadashi yamaguchi x fem!oc
warnings: none
Tumblr media
Kokoa walks into the practice match right as Kageyama is getting ready to serve. The first thing she hears is a powerful slam and a whoosh of air follows before the ball slams into the grou–Daichi’s waiting arms.
“Yamaguchi,” Tsukishima calls and sets up the ball for his friend.
“I got this, Tsukki!” Yamaguchi spikes the ball, hitting Hinata’s arms and going off to the side.
“Damn it,” Kageyama bristles.
“Nice set, Tsukki.”
“Steady receives are Daichi’s forte,” Tanaka tells the first years on his team. “He’s an incredible defender.”
“Were you expecting to score a few points in a row?” Daichi asks, confidence flowing from his body. “I don’t have any outstanding talents, but I’ve spent two years more than you guys etching this receiving skill into my body.” He gets into a deep receiving position. “Don’t think I’m going down without a fight.”
Hinata watches in awe. “So cool!”
“Come on, King,” Tsukishima ribs. “Don’t you think it’s about time you pulled out all the stops?”
Hinata sets his sights on the tall first year. “What’s your problem, man? You keep trying to pick a fight with him! What the hell is the “King’s set”?”
“Don’t you know why he’s called the King?”
“Well, for some reason, he’s really good. The other schools must have gotten scared of his skills and named him that, no?”
Tsukishima lowers his voice like he’s telling some great tale. “I’m sure there are a lot of people who think that way. But rumor has it that he was given the nickname of “King of the Court” by the guys from Kitagawa Daiichi. It means “Egocentric King”, or “Oppressive Despot”. I only heard rumors about it at first, but I was convinced after watching that match. He got so oppressive that they had to sub him out of the final.” Tsukishima notices Kageyama’s silence. “That’s why you stopped making quick sets? Are you chickening out due to what happened in that final?”
Tanaka steps forward angrily. “Hey, you’ve been running your mouth for a while now–”
“Tanaka,” Daich warns, shaking his head.
“If you make sets, but nobody jumps to hit them–,” Tsukishima continues before Kageyama cuts him off.
“That’s right. The idea of making a set only to find that there’s nobody there…terrifies me.”
“But that was back in junior high, right?” Hinata asks in confusion. “So long as he sets for me, I don’t really care. Breaking through your guard is a far more pressing issue! We’re gonna beat Tsukishima and join this team for real! You’ll get to play setter with your head held high, and then you’ll set for me! Does anything else matter?”
“That kind of pure and straightforward shtick really gets on my nerves,” Tsukki sneers. “Your spirit won’t make up for your lack of height. If you think hard work trumps all else, then you’re sorely mistaken.”
Tsukishima serves the ball and Tanaka easily receives it. “Leave it to me!”
“Gimmie!” Both Hinata and Tanaka shout, leaving the decision up to Kageyama of who to set the ball to.
“Tanaka!” He shouts.
Hinata screams out in response. “Kageyama!” He appears behind Kageyama as he gets ready to set the ball. “I’m here!”
Kageyama does a quick set to Hinata, who almost misses the ball. They watch as it lands outside the court.
Hinata blows out a breath of air. “That was close. I nearly whiffed that one. It went out, though.”
“What was that for?” Kageyama yells.
“But the ball did come to me!” Hinata says. “Who cares about junior high? I’ll take whatever sets I can get. And I’ll be grateful for all of them! I’ll jump anywhere. I’ll spike any ball! So…set for me!”
Kokoa shuffles over to her brother, murmuring to him quietly. “Kageyama was definitely going to pass to Tanaka just now.”
Koshi nods in agreement, matching her quiet tone before speaking. “It’s like he reacted to Hinata’s voice on instinct and changed his mind at the last second. To be able to make that accurate of a set on such short notice…”
“At least his amazing sets are kind of a distraction from his shitty attitude,” she replies, tuning back into the match before them.
On the court, Tanaka watches the younger boys in shock. “You guys can run quick plays?”
“Quick plays?” Hinata asks, not understanding the fancy terminology.
“Fast attacks like the one you just did!” Tanaka clarifies.
“No way!” The ginger tells him adamantly as if he didn’t just hit the quick set. “I’ve only ever spiked slow and looping sets.”
Tanaka looks at him like he’s crazy. “But you just did it! And besides, didn’t you once spike a messed-up set from that beginner on your junior high team? Stuff like that.”
Hinata reflects on the past match, confused. “Huh? Oh, but I don’t remember how I did that.” This makes the second year look at Hinata in confusion, not sure how to respond. “But I’ll spike any set that comes my way!” The first year continues. “You hear me?”
Kageyama glares down at Hinata. “We’ve never practiced plays,” he says, his tone never changing. “Running a quick one is impossible.”
“What are you being so timid for?” Hinata asks, backing away from Kageyama. “It’s giving me the creeps!”
“Oh, shut it,” the grumpy first year says as he stalks away.
The similarly grumpy Tsukishima turns his attention towards Hinata. “There you go, getting all worked up again,” he says, simpering. “‘Try and try until you succeed’ sounds nice on paper, but it doesn’t always work like that.”
“Why are you so negative?” Kokoa asks bluntly, bringing all the attention in the room to her. It was obvious that both Sugawara siblings received the same soft genes with the way her face resembled her brothers. She had a delicate bone structure complete with a button nose and soft skin and her hair was like a long, silver waterfall down her back. It’s no question that she’s attractive. Yamagichi certainly thought so.
“And who are you?” Tsukishima asks, narrowing his eyes at her reproachful comment.
“Kokoa Sugawara,” she says, crossing her arms and matching his tone. “You never answered my question, beanpole.”
Tsukishima scowled but answered her anyway. “Everyone has things they’re just not cut out for. And he’s clearly not fit to be a spiker.”
“Says you,” Kokoa cuts in before Hinata yells at him. “High school is very different from junior high. And anyone can improve when they put enough effort into it.” Hinata stands behind her, crossing his arms and nodding his head with a serious face as if saying “exactly”.
The shorter first year finally decides to speak up. “I know that a volleyball player needs to be tall,” he says, feeling slightly inferior to the giants around him. “That it doesn’t matter how high you can jump. It’ll never make up for a massive difference in height. But I don’t care if I’m disadvantaged or not cut out for it. I wanna fight using my own body. I wanna keep winning and stay on the court as much as I can!” His body was tense and his face was pulled taught, an obvious challenge for Tsukishima should he take it.
Kageyama suddenly pushes past Kokoa and grabs Hinata by his shirt to pull him away from the net. Sugawara does the same to his sister, practically scruffing her like a pup as he drags her away from the court. Both scramble and complain to their companions.
As the game resumes, Kokoa turns to her brother. “I’m not staying for this, I’ve got some stuff to do.”
Koshi eyes her skeptically. “What stuff?”
“Stuff,” she smiles at him innocently while picking up her bag. Making her way to the gym doors, she turns her attention to the two first years she came to be friends with. “Oi, Hinata, Kageyama!” The two first years turn to her in surprise. Lingering by the door, she smiles brightly at them. “You both better win this. I’m looking forward to taking some action shots of that quick so you better make the team in your proper positions.”
“Yes!” They both yell, matching her grin and Kokoa makes her way outside.

Sending this again b/c my computer is being weird and idk if the first went through 😅And these are fun asks!! so sorry if ya got it twice lol F, H—and B (if your comfortable answering—if not how about C)
It did get through first time! THank you <3
F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.
oh. let me go through my docs ashfdklsda HAHAH this is for our Haikyuu au, Sayuri watching a televised game of @qettleqorn's Kin
“Nationals?” he asked, looking at the banners around the stadium. Then he frowned. “Oh, Shitorizawa.” Sayuri didn’t move at all, her dark eyes completely focused on what was going on in front of her. “Hello,” Tooru tried again. “I’m also here.” He waved his hand in front of her face and earned himself an angry glare for what felt like 0.1 seconds before she looked away to the screen again. A while passed in which neither said absolutely anything, but then suddenly she pushed a finger into the screen and hissed: “Kin.” “Ki-n?” Tooru repeated and looked at the name of the jersey in front of him. “Ki -m?” He fell over the word with the unfamiliar syllable amount a little. “A korean?” Sayuri turned to him, her finger still on the screen that had since moved on from what she had shown: “Ki-n!” He was pretty sure that was the wrong name, but he didn’t want to argue about it: “Who is that?” Her face soured: “Giant, bitch ass of a woman.” “That’s a pretty rude assessment…”
I just think its very funny. Plus we quote it all the time asdhkfalsdf
H: How would you describe your style?
Long paragraphs with way too much setup that nobody cares for and that half could probably be cut out. Plus i like to repeat sentences for dramatic effect. I put a lot of focus on how the characters move and whta their eyes are doing, even if its too much sometimes.
B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
oh so many! Kakashi's feelings for his father in Hymn for the missing are mostly mine, most of the experiences INo talks about in "Walking in the wind" are things that I experienced, Sakumos struggle with self hate in "decay" is mostly from my own feelings. I'm writing on a Juvia story in which I imprint my insecurities on her too, but its not out yet.

Tumblr media
-Last Time-
“I’m sorry I’m being so persistent about this… but I think if you watched them play, then you would understand why.” Takeda says as he begins to leave. As he walks through the door he speaks one last time. “Good Night.”
-The Next Day, School-
“Oh, hey. It’s you. Wow. It’s been a while since we last talked… Suga.” A boy with long hair, that’s pulled back into a bun, and a little facial hair says. “It feels kinda weird, after all this time.”
“Please, Asahi. You have to come back, Nisinoya’s suspension is over and he’s returning to the team.” Suga replies.
“Really? That’s good. I always felt better knowing he had our backs.”
“We felt better with you there too! Hearing you call for a set always brought team morale way up!” Suga exclaims passionately.
“Ha Ha… I’m glad to hear that… but if I went back, I’d just be a lead weight around everyone’s ankles again.” Asahi replies nervously due to Suga’s outburst.
“Asahi, right now the team is changing. It pains me to say it, but we got an amazing rookie setter this year. That… and we have The Greatest Decoy now. You won’t have to shoulder the whole offense anymore! If both you and Nishinoya come back, along with our new rookies, nobody will be able to call us ‘The Fallen Campions’ or ‘The Wingless Crows’ anymore!” Suga explains before a student calls for Asahi to tell him it’s his turn for career counseling. “But to make sure that happens, the team needs its Ace!”
“I’m sorry, Suga.” Asahi apologizes as he walks toward the classroom door leaving Suga with a sad and defeated look
“Um… Y-You go first.” Hinata says outside of the classroom.
“Wha?! Me?! You were the one who wanted to see the Ace, boke!” Kageyama replies from next to Hinata.
        “B-But I can’t walk into a third-year classroom. It’s too scary!”
        “Wait! Asahi!” Suga calls.
“Asahi?!” Hinata and Kageyama question at the same time.
“Yes?” Asahi asks. Hinata is hiding behind Kageyama because he feels intimidated by the third year’s size and appearance.
“Hm? What are you two doing up here?” Suga asks as he comes out of the classroom. Before they can answer their names are called.
“Hinata? Kageyama?” The two turn around to see you walking up to them.
“(Y/N)? What are you doing here?” Hinata asks.
“I’m looking for someone. What about you guys?”
“We’re here to meet the Ace!” Hinata explains excitedly. You giggle before noticing Suga and Asahi standing behind your fellow first-years.
“Ah! I’m sorry Suga! I didn’t mean to interrupt your conversation!” You apologize with a bow.
“It’s alright (Y/N).” Suga reassures. He turns to Asahi before speaking again. “That’s Hinata and Kageyama. Our new rookies.”
“Oh, I see.” Asahi replies in understanding.
“Nice to meet you, sir!!” The boys reply.
        “Yo.”
“And this is (Y/N). She’s our new manager.” Suga introduces.
“Hello! It’s nice to meet you…?”
“Ah! Sorry (Y/N)! This is Asahi.”
-Meanwhile in the Staff Room-
Takeda is talking on the phone. He soon hangs up and picks up the paper that he was previously writing on. ‘Training Camp 5/6 Practice Game 9 A.M.’ is written on the paper.
“This is our biggest chance yet! With this, I’m sure something will change for the better!” He exclaims excitedly. “They’re the best opponent we could hope for! Now we just have to put ourselves in the best position to face them!”
-Back in the Hallway-
“It’s nice to meet you Asahi-senpai.” You say with a smile and a bow. ‘She doesn’t seem scared of me…’ Asahi thinks.
        “Same to you (Y/N)-Chan”
        “Just (Y/N) is fine.”
“Alright, then you can just call me Asahi.”
        “Deal!”
        “Just them?” Asahi asks Suga.
“We got five, including (Y/N). Not many, but they all have promise.” Suga answers.
“Ah, okay.” Asahi looks at Hinata and bends down. He pays his arm. “Good luck.”
“Huh? Aren’t you going to come play with us?” Hinata asks, confused. “I WANNA BE THE ACE SOMEDAY TOO! SO I REALLY WANNA WATCH ONE PLAY UP CLOSE.” He continues excitedly. Asahi is left speechless. The student from before calls Asahi again.
“Sorry. I’m no Ace.” Asahi says as he walks away. Kageyama and Hinata are left confused as you’re left a bit sad.
“I’m confused.” Kageyama begins. “Is he injured?”
        “No. He’s fine.” Suga says.
“Is he not allowed to return to the team?” You ask.
“No, no external reason or anything is holding him back. He isn’t coming back because… I think he’s started to hate volleyball. Or something like that…”
“Whaa?! But… But he’s so big! And he’s the Ace! Why…?” Hinata exclaims.
“Asahi always was the biggest out of all of us. And the strongest… He could still make the attack count even when the ball wasn’t where it should be. All of us knew that he was our Ace. But… thanks to that, I leaned on him too hard.” Suga explains.
“Did he get shut out in a game?” Kageyama asks.
        “Kageyama!” You scold quietly.
“Yeah. In one not that long ago… the other team’s block has him stuffed.” Suga continues.
“Huh?! Is that…” Hinata starts but before he can continue you nudge him.
“I bet you’re thinking ‘Is that all?’” Suga guesses.
“No! No! I completely understand how badly it really, really sucks to get blocked all the time!” Hinata frantically justifies. He continues calmly. “But can that really make someone hate volleyball…?”
“Hinata, we don’t know what happened so we can’t judge Asahi’s decisions or feelings.” You say solemnly.
“Asahi was our Ace. Getting marked, getting picked on, and having the other team’s whole attention focused on stopping you is part of playing the position. But in that game, he was completely shut down. He couldn’t do anything. None of us could.” You look at the troubled look on Suga’s face with sadness on your own. “Asahi is the type to feel extra responsible for things…”
        “…”
        “…”
        “…”
There’s silence until Suga begins talking again. “Gah! If you don’t hurry, you’ll be late for practice!!”
“!!” Kageyama and Hinata start running to the club room to get changed for practice while you stand looking at Suga.
        “…”
        “…What?” He asks.
“I…” You try to find the right words to cheer him up but they get caught in your throat.
        “?”
“Don’t you have practice too?~” You tease instead.
“Ah! Y-Yea! See you there (Y/N).” Suga responds heading in the same direction as Kageyama and Hinata. You watch him walk off as you get lost in your head.
-Flashback-
You’re sitting on your bed crying when someone knocks on your door. You wipe the tears from your eyes and snot from your nose as you respond with a soft ‘come in’.
“Sweetie…?” Your mom says as she cautiously opens the door. “What’s wrong?” She asks as she sits on your bed.
“W-Why?… I d-don’t…” You try to say but struggle due to your crying.
“Shhh… It’s okay… Calm down.” Your mom comforts you. Once you’ve calmed down you begin to tell your mom why you’re upset.
“We were practicing spiking and receiving, with me being one of the receivers, since I’m a libero, and I don’t know if I was having an off day or what, but I wasn’t doing very well. The upperclassman got angry at me and started yelling.”
“Oh, Sweetie…” Your mom whispers emphatically.
“They said they don’t know how I got on the team since I suck so much and that I’ll always be on the bench so I might as well quit.” You continue as you become teary-eyed. “I…I just don’t know what I did to them… Why do they hate me?” You ask and begin to cry again. Your mom holds you close with you eventually crying yourself to sleep in her arms. She tucks you into bed and leaves your room. As she’s leaving, she gives you a saddened expression.
-Flashback End, In the Gym-
“RROLLING!! THUNDAAAAA!!” Nishinoya yells as he receives the ball while rolling. You look at him with a blank expression, along with Tanaka and Suga. Hinata looks starstruck as he watches Noya walk by with pride.
“Uh, okay. Nice dig.” Suga says.
“That was just a normal rolling dig, bro! Where’s the thunder at?” Tanaka points out while laughing.
“Hey, now! No yelling out strange stuff while you’re in motion. You could hurt yourself.” Daichi reprimands.
“Why did he shout something?” Kageyama asks.
“Did he really just…” Tsukishima tries asking but has trouble due to him and Yamaguchi laughing.
“KAGEYAMA!! TSUKISHIMA!! YAMAGUCHI!! YOU THREE ARE IN TROUBLE NOW!! GET OVER HERE ABS KNEEL… NO, SIT…NO, JUST MAKE YOURSELVES SHORTER THAN ME!!” Nishinoya yells.
“Ooh! Ooh! Teach me how to do that!” Hinata says.
“Don’t worry Noya-senpai…” You begin, getting the boy’s attention. “I think it was cool!” You finish with a smile that knocks Nishinoya out. Before you can check on the boy, Takeda opens the gym door.
“Hey, everyone.” He says, getting everyone’s attention. “Gather round!”
“Yessir!” You all say as you gather by Takeda.
“All of you are planning on doing that again this year, right?” Takeda asks as you all look at him confused. “A training camp over golden week!”
“Yes. We still need a lot of practice in a lot of things.” Daichi answers as you look to see Hinata has an excited expression.
“Good! You see…” Takeda begins. “On the last day of golden week! I’ve put together another practice game for us!” He finishes excitedly.
“!!” You all look at him shocked.
“Whoa! That’s awesome, Take-chan!” Tanaka exclaims. “What gives?!”
“Great! Who are we playing?!” Suga questions.
“They’re a Tokyo school, and I hear they used to be very good.” Takeda begins. “It’s Nekoma High School.”

I am but a simple idiot, but hey, if you feel like sending me an ask about anything I'd be more than happy to reply, don't be afraid to do so, believe me, I'm more intimidated by you than you are by me. All kinds of asks and rants are appreciated but here, have my fandoms:
Main interests at the moment in no particular order:
Littlest pet shop (2012)
Fnaf (all up to Fnaf Security Breach that I refuse to watch because there's no Foxy in it. Might change though)
2. Current interests too but I don't really consider myself to be in the fandom because I'm not that interested in them anymore or never was or other reasons:
Miraculous Ladybug
Undertale and its Aus
My little pony (mostly generation 4 but I kinda follow the disaster that g5 is too)
Attack on Titan
Boku no Hero Academia (kinda, this one's sketchy)
Omori (the best game, go play it)
3. Other interests that I have long left behind but will still happily talk about them and some of them I was crazy about at some point (this are basically most of the things that I have ever watched):
Kuroshitsuji
Danganronpa (this one is special, k?)
Death note
Haikyuu!!
Free!
Yuri!! on ice
Kuroko no basket
Portal (mmm, companion cube)
Leffee talks shit - tag that I use for personal, non-fandom content that nobody came here for xd. You can block it, you can check it, do what you want with it.
No pronouns, I don't exist. But if you need to refer to me use anything from she/her, he/him, they/them or ultimate supreme miss congeniality most photogenic most talented super sparkle grand supreme of the six and unders /j. No, these all aren't my preferred pronouns in real life, but on Internet they are okay, mainly for the sake of anonymity. Just pretend I never said anything private lol and the anonymity will still be there.

Thank you for doing an essay on Bokuto. I think he is overlooked sometimes. And, although this post is ages old, I'll add my two cents. Also to revamp your post again. <3
One of my favourite quotes, besides "we are the protagonists of the world", is actually Bo's: "Do what's fun, not what's easy."
It appears as another weird Bokuto thing to say, and some other characters tell us as such. How can constant training working hard be fun? Winning is fun, of course, but the way to achieve this is so difficult. Bokuto's naive and joyful self, and aspiration to have fun, would suggest he doesn't want that hard work, only the rewards. But this specific quote "do what's fun, not what's easy" highlights that Bo is very much aware of the struggle and hardships. And is not afraid of that or resents it.
There is one character in Haikyuu which is both so similar and on the other hand different to Bo, that always wrecked my brain. Oikawa.
I think Bo is most similar to Oikawa, but with a special twist. They both strive for validation through Volleyball. Their whole soul is poured into getting the best they can be. One could argue that Bo is special and wants to be "normal" and Oikawa is normal and wants to be "special". (i.e. Oikawas struggle with talent).
Oikawas always appears to somewhat resent the fact that he has to work so hard. Yes, he loves volleyball for the sake of volleyball, but the feeling of accomplishment only arrives through the validations of others give him for having put up the hard work in the first place. Nobody in highschool, now an Olympian player. And everyone he beats in Japan will know he has made it, despite the odds.
Bokuto doesn't appear to care what people think of him, as a product of his results. To go pseudo psychology here, if Bo was weird as a kid, he sure got ostracized from his peers. (Also shown briefly in the manga.) Bo strives for validation by people vibing with him, and recognizing his presence is something fun and inspiring. They don't need to know where he came from and what he did to get here. What he needs is the crowd cheering him on.
But both characters are willing to work *hard* to get there. First it appeared weird to me that Bo is so down anytime he makes a mistake in volleyball, but appears unfaced when his teammates alienate him. Leave him to run on his own etc. Since teammates are a source of validation on its own. (See Kageyama being rejected by his teammates. And Oikawa thriving as captain and role model.)
It was always this difference that made me go "huh? What's going on. What is this character about then??" And my conclusion is that Bo's want of validation and recognition is less about him as a person (as opposed to Oikawa) but about his actions. Protagonists of the world are protagonists because their actions matter and impact people. There is not one type, or "correct" protagonist. What matters is that their actions impact the world and direct the trajectory of other characters. Rags to riches, the hero etc are just tropes of a protagonist.
Oikawa wants people to go: "omg that dudes fucking awesome. He worked his fucking ass off and now he is the best at volleyball." The gasp moment and admiration of his person.
Bo doesn't care what the crowd says about him personally. He reaches for that moment, when people see him play and go: "gasp, this is what volleyball is about. This is what an (normal hehehe) ace is! I feel it, I love it. It inspires me. I want to cheer and feel with them as loud as I can. "
Bokuto's sense of fun and accomplishment is somehow detached from his own person or biography. Therefore the hard work does not carry as many personal connotations ("you are not good enough. You need to work to be good ") It's just what you have to do, if you want to be impactful to other people. Push harder and work harder.
To end it - I think the biggest compliment for Oikawa from a child would be "I want to be like you." Whereas for Bo it would be akin to something like "Because of you, I want to play volleyball."
(Thank you for coming to my ted talk. I love these characters so much.)
A Stupidly Long Bokuto Analysis
CEO of thought dumping and calling glamorized rants “essays”
I already made a character analysis for my kin character (Oikawa) so here’s one for my favorite/ultimate comfort character :)
"The world" is a recurring theme with Bokuto. He has a strange habit of always looking at the bigger picture. By which I mean, he doesn’t really look out for little details. He's simple minded, so he takes things at face value. Tokyo isn't enough for him. Japan isn't enough. Asia isn't enough. He wants the world. He doesn't care if it seems like too much, or if it's unreasonable. He knows what he wants, and he's going to get it.
This is more noticeable in the manga. For example, there's the iconic "No matter what they say, we are the protagonists of the world" . Yes, I know Akaashi is the one the says this line, but it really mainly applies to Bokuto. We know Bokuto has this strange sort of charisma that makes him ridiculously likable to pretty much anyone. Now, I REALLY didn't wanna make this about Akaashi, but it seems like that's actually Furudate's intention. It's almost as though he didn't want to give us direct access to Bokuto's thoughts for most of the series. Instead, how did we get that? Akaashi. Akaashi is the narrator for Bokuto's thoughts. Bokuto is so random, so unique and strange, that it wouldn't make sense for us to have access to his mind. Yes, we get direct thoughts from him time to time, but Akaashi is the one who really tells us most of it. He's there to filter out Bokuto's thoughts because it would be too strange for us to understand. We would never be able to figure out Bokuto because he can't even figure out himself. That's technically Akaashi's "purpose" in the story. I don't mean that in a bad way though. I would explain more, but I wanna keep this about Bokuto as much as possible.
ANYWAY, we can sort of see Akaashi as an "extension" of Bokuto. When Akaashi says "we are the protagonists of the world", he is not talking to himself or the reader. He's talking to Bokuto, because he knows Bokuto wants the world. Another thing about this quote is that he begins with "No matter what they say..." This kind of made me to a double take. Why would someone say they aren't? But then I remembered in the manga, we get a scene of Bokuto running with some classmates. It was probably for a gym class of sorts. It's Bokuto's turn to set the pace for their run, and everybody's upset because he always goes too fast and too overboard. Bokuto doesn't really notice, and he goes forth anyway. However, after a while, he looks back and realizes nobody is running with him anymore.
Sound familiar? Kageyama's teammates left him in the same way Bokuto's did. They couldn't keep up, so they abandoned them. We're more familiar with Kageyama's past, so it's a bit easier to understand Bokuto's if you see that little parallel. I might be reaching a little here, but it's possible that people have told Bokuto that the world doesn't revolve around him in the same way Kageyama was mockingly called a king. It's a common thing said to people like Bokuto, who don't really understand much outside their own head. It's not a bad thing, but many people misinterpret it as arrogance or a disregard for others. Bokuto's charisma apparently didn't work for everyone, considering how annoyed his classmates were; I think it's a possibility that people made some snide remarks.
We also see that Bokuto is actually incredibly desperate for validation. He constantly brags about his amazing talent, always wants people to see the cool things he does, and thrives off compliments. He wants attention, and that's not a bad thing at all. It just means he wants people to acknowledge how great he is, and he feels happy when they do. That's really just scraping the surface of all that quote tells us, but I want to move on to something else.
Another recurring thing about Bokuto is his use of the word "ordinary" It seems that he doesn't really understand what the word means, but I think he knows its meaning better than anyone. Bokuto using the word first stood out to me when Fukurodani player a difficult match against another school in Nationals. I'm not too familiar with the timeline, so correct me if I'm wrong. Bokuto told the rest of Fukurodani that, up until that point, he was "an ace coddled by his team" and now he's ready to be "just an ace". He wants to be an ordinary ace, which seems quite strange. This is Bokuto, and wants to be ordinary?
Bokuto has a different understanding of "ordinary" than most people do. He's simple minded, not stupid. It's not that he doesn't think; he just thinks differently. He's that unique type of person who thinks out of the box by default. When most people think of ordinary, we think of boring, plain, normal. It's been given a negative connotation by most people. Bokuto doesn't listen to connotation.
Remember that he takes things at face value? This is an example. To us, ordinary is boring. To him, it's a goal. Bokuto sees ordinary as what things are supposed to be. He wants to be an ordinary ace. Aces are supposed to be the awesome, powerful stars of the team. Aces are supposed to be the best. He wants to be the best. Therefore, he wants to be an ordinary ace. It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to fully understand that entire bit, to be honest.
It's actually more clearly stated in one of the last manga chapters after MSBY vs. Schweiden. Akaashi interviews Bokuto for the manga company he works at, and Bokuto tells him that he has become "ordinary". Akaashi is confused and tells Bokuto that he has never been ordinary. Bokuto laughs and makes some remark about how Akaashi didn't realize just how ordinary he's become. We get a little throwback to Akaashi's 0.5 second thought process, and he realizes immediately that Bokuto doesn't use the word "ordinary" like he does. Even more impressive, he seems to also realize exactly what he means by it. Akaashi tells him that he (Akaashi) was mistaken and Bokuto is actually "super ordinary".
THIS PART TOOK ME A GOOD TWENTY MINUTES, AND AKAASHI DID IT IN 0.5 SECONDS. He's the real master at Bokuto analysis. Though Bokuto doesn't get enough serious background, so he's a difficult one to analyze. It's also much harder to put him into words? Again, he's a very unique character. He even has a surprising amount of duality in him. Though we as a fandom perceive him as an optimist, it seems his mood swings often force him into a state of overwhelming pessimism. I actually find it quite funny. It's almost like his left brain and right brain are fighting a battle, and left brain almost loses but summons the strength to momentarily completely overwhelm right brain before it takes back control. I got a very strange visual from that though.
Regardless, it just means I think his mind tries to balance out his naive optimism with intense flashes of pessimism. Bokuto gives his all to EVERYTHING. That's actually sort of an issue for him. If he's happy, he's VERY happy. If he's upset, he's VERY upset. He wants to be the best at all he doesbecause he just wants to have fun. He's not having fun when he loses, so he doesn't want to lose. It's so simple, but it's strangely inspiring. It's the straightforward answer to Tsukishima's question. Why do we push ourselves to be the best when we know there is no such thing? What motivates us? Our desire to win. What makes us want to win? Our desire to win is fueled by hatred for losing. Why don't we want to lose? We don't want to lose because it's not fun. Why isn't it fun? It just isn't. Bokuto doesn't try to dig for those answers. After all, why is anything the way it is? What does it matter? He doesn't care as long as he's enjoying himself.
I suppose that's one of the nice parts of being so simple minded. He's able to enjoy life to the fullest because he doesn't want to focus on things he doesn't like. That means his future character growth will be about having to do things he doesn't like because that's a part of life. It'll actually be quite sad to watch Bokuto grow up. What he needs to do is find a balance for all the duality in him so he doesn't need to give up his childishness or force out his mature side. If he can find a balance, it just means he'll be able to do both when he needs to. If he can do that, he'll get through everything life throws at him. He can still have fun.
He doesn't get enough serious screen time, so I can't really say anymore about him that can be reinforced by things from the anime or manga. This was only around 1.5K, so hopefully it was a pretty easy read? I still don't wanna edit this, so just tell me if things don't make sense! Also, please remember that Bokuto IS NOT AN IDIOT, SO PLEASE STOP CALLING HIM ONE IF IT’S NOT FOR COMEDIC PURPOSES. Thank you :)

I have such a weird relationship with anime.
There's a lot I wont tolerate with anime, especially its treatment of female characters (young girls and women), and so I've been extremely picky about what I watch for just about 10 years now.
2014 was the first time I properly buckled down and watched a good chunk of big animes (HxH, FMAB, Haikyuu, Soul Eater). And then 2015 was when I mixed up old animes with animes that were airing at the time. So I had between 1-3 anime eps a day.
Most of it was... soul-crushing. And I was absolutely exhausted. And I didn't know when I'd stop. When it would end.
It was painful.
Anime treated female characters so badly. The fans were disgusting. I was in arguments non-stop. I was screenshotting and posting scenes that were heinous and I could just feel myself losing this battle of trying to see if there was anything good, anything salvageable about this medium.
When I think back to how I started with anime, which was Inuyasha, straight after Inuyasha I was introduced to... harem. I don't know how, but harem was the first anime theme I stumbled into. I watched DNA2, Rosario + Vampire, Hand Maid May, etc. Eventually my first reverse-harem, Fruits Basket. This went on for a little bit before I found Death Note.
But by then, I was so used to half-naked female characters bending over or falling over and landing in provocative positions, I thought it was normal. Death Note never did that, but just bc it didn't sexualise its female characters, doesn't mean it treated them great either.
It took years before I realised that this wasn't normal. And then if women weren't sexualised, they were beaten. Or both. At the same time. And it was laughed at. Or memed. And I was the only one calling it out. Nobody gave a shit.
This is why I felt so drained. And alone.

I found animes that made me happy. When I look at them in a list all together, there's more than I thought. But to find them originally, was like "suffer through about 40 of the bad ones, find a good one, suffer through another 25, find a good one" over and over again.
I kept getting asks like "why are you putting yourself through this?" and honestly, I didn't know. I still dont know. In fact, I'm still doing something similar somewhere else. Like, I'm building up evidence. And its hard to stop.
And the thing is... I didn't go into these animes with the intention of getting into fights. I was always hopeful, everytime a new lineup of anime was announced, that they'd subvert my expectations. Osomatsu was actually the biggest shock for me. I thought it was going to be teen-boy humour to the max, be the Japanaese South Park. Couldn't have been more wrong about that, and its one of my top faves now.
Finding animes like that, that put me in a happy place, was my main intention. Always hoping animes that were the opposite would start to die out.
Coming back to anime, well, I'm just rewatching rn. Only one's I liked. I dont know where I'm going from there, but for now, I'm just staying in this happy place. Going from Osomatsu to Maou-sama, with a few other good one's in between like 91 Days and Acca - Its been peaceful. I found those animes during times of watching mostly bad ones and these being the little gems in between. So when you watch nothing but the gems, its... blissful. I'm having fun. I'm not ready to torture myself yet.
